National Art Honor Society Gives Back
Cookie Exchange
by Irene Thraen-Borowski
On December 14, 2011, NAHS members met after school to make cookies to solicit donations for non-perusable food items and winter clothing. NAHS members made over 160 cookies and each one was uniquely decorated.
For the next two days, AVC students could buy a cookie for $.50 or bring in a canned food item or winter clothing item in exchange for a cookie. Many AVC students brought in multiple items and were rewarded with multiple cookies.
The National Art Honor Society received approximately 30 food items, 3 winter coats, 2 hats, multiple pairs of gloves, and 2 scarves. These items have been donated to local food pantries, while the money raised will go toward the AVC National Art Honor Society chapter. Everyone agreed the event was a success and a fun way to give back.
Special thanks to Mrs. Moon for allowing the NAHS chapter to use her classroom for cookie assembly, as well as the home school bus drivers for always supporting our events.
