Pro Start Team Fundraises for State Competition
November 03, 2011
Restaurant Management Students are fundraising for their upcoming Pro Start competition. Students are taking orders for fruit pies, which will be delivered to your door, unbaked and frozen. Customers will be able to bake the pie themselves using the directions provided. Pies will hold up to three months.
Restaurant Management students have competed in the Illinois Pro Start competition the past two years and have won and gone on to Nationals. The competition consists of two parts; a culinary competition and a management competition. The team is to develop a restaurant concept and prepare a menu with costing and a business plan for the concept. The culinary team will prepare three menu items for the judges and the management team will present a power point and display to judges with the idea that the judges are investors. The team hopes to win again and head back to Nationals.
Members of the culinary team are Alexis Imbus, Sarah Miller and Paige Scharpf of Galena, and the management team consists of Brandon Kouzmanoff of Galena and Austin Lyne of Scales Mound. The competition takes place at the end of February 2012.
