Medical Terminology

This program teaches medical terminology as the language of health care.  The course work is designed for application of medical terminology in a variety of health fields. It provides an emphasis on word analysis, construction, definition, pronunciation and spelling of medical terms. Students will use the terminology they learn while completing their clinical rotations.
Prerequisite: Health Occupations I or approval by Instructor.

 

Course Content:

Introduction to Medical Terminology, The Human Body in Health and Disease, Word Part Review, The Skeletal System, The Muscular System, The Cardiovascular System, The Lymphatic and Immune System, The Respiratory System, The Digestive System, The Urinary System, The Nervous System, The Nervous System, Special Senses: The Eyes and Ears, The Integumentary System, The Endocrine System, The Reproductive System, Diagnostic Procedures and Pharmacology.
