The Graphics Communications class has been hard at work.
This year is the 40th year of Highland Community College's Juried Student Art Show. Students from the AVC have submitted work and will have 25 pieces on display. The opening reception for this event is Thursday, April 1st from 4:30-6pm. Awards will be presented at 5:30pm.
Recently the Galena Artists Guild approached the class to see of they would like to participate in a community art project titled Tapestry. Each student created a 6 X 6 tile to be part of one large installation. There will be hundreds of small artworks combined to make one large piece or artwork. The Tapestry unveiling is March 19th at the Galena Artists Guild Gallery from 6-8pm.
Another exciting opportunity for our students to develop their on the job skills came to us from the Northern Illinois Wine Growers Association. Graphics students were challenged to create a logo and assist in designing advertising for an upcoming event this summer. Tori Ertmer's design was selected to be their logo and will printed on wine glasses, marketing materials, etc. Tori is a senior at River Ridge High School.
The rotating library exhibit Be The Change is winding down with only a few more libraries to go. Get out and see it before its gone.
As always, thank you for supporting our students and the arts!
