Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2007-2008

by Kathy Stines

October 22, 2007

It is hard to believe that we have already completed the first nine weeks of the 2007-2008 school year! Business students have completed their first 60 hours of coursework in Banking and Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Personal Finance, and Real Estate. They have also been busy fundraising for and preparing to attend the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Fall Conference, November 15-17, 2007, in Oakbrook, IL.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization that business students at the secondary, middle level, or post-secondary level can join. Chapters are located in high schools, middle schools, area career/technical schools, post secondary technical, and junior and community colleges, and universities.

The purpose of BPA is to prepare students for the business workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Involvement as an active BPA member will be a very rewarding aspect of a students business education.

Best of luck to River Ridge BPA Member Alex Eilers! Alex has decided to run for a BPA State Officer Position at our fall conference. Alex will compete against BPA students from other Illinois Chapters in hopes of securing one of eight possible State Officer positions. This process requires Alex to campaign, complete a resume, participate in forum discussions, and prepare a speech to present to approximately 200 Illinois BPA members.
