AVC Students Win At SkillsUSA

Students from the AVC attended the annual Illinois State SkillsUSA Leadership Conference and Competition April 19-21, 2007. Students were entered in various industry areas of the competition, ranging from Fresh Floral to Commercial Baking. Lauren Wise, from Restaurant Management, won a Silver in Job Skills Demonstration with her speech on napkin folding. From the Construction Program, the Teamworks team won Silver also. Team members were Grant Ohms, Ross Hesselbacher, Ryan Chumbler and Aaron White. Honorable Mentions included Allison Hencke in Commercial Baking, Corbin Gropp in Job Skills Demonstration and Lauren Wise for Job Interview. Contestants receiving honorable mentions are typically called back by judges for a second round of judging to determine the top three winners. We are very proud of the hard work the students put forth for these competitions.
