Students Attend State HOSA Conference and Contest

On Wednesday, March 14, 2007, eight young ladies, Ashley Kemp, Caitlin Harms, Brittany Weede, Sarah Bohnsack, and Tarin Brown of River Ridge, Melissa Niemann of Stockton, and Michelle Phillips and Carmina Baltierra of West Carroll and their advisors, Mrs. Karen Koester and Mrs. Bev Atherton left the Jo Daviess Carroll Area Vocational Center headed to Decatur, IL to participate in the 2007 Illinois Health Occupations Students of America conference and contest. The young ladies participated in on-line testing the two weeks preceding the competition and went to Decatur to compete in other events. They were entered in Dental Terminology, Medical Terminology, Medical Math, Concepts of Health Care, Nurse Assisting, Extemporaneous Health Poster, Extemporaneous Writing, Career Health Display, Creative Problem Solving, Safety and Healthcare Issues. Carmina and Ashley represented the local chapter as delegates to the conference.
Congratulations to these young ladies for representing the vocational center. Awards received included Ashley qualifying in the top 10 in Dental Terminology,
Michelle qualifying in the top 10 in health care issues, and the Creative Problem Solving Team placing in the top 10 also.
