Health Occupations Students Begin Clinical Experience

by Karen Koester

December 15, 2006

On Wednesday, November 29 and Thursday, November 30, the next stage of training started for the Health Occupations I students at the Vocational Center. They started working on their forty required hours of clinical work so they qualify to take the state CNA exam in the late spring. The students will go to the nursing home weekly for 20 hours and will complete three 7-hour shifts to earn their clinical hours. They will learn about the different types of care and tasks required of the CNA. The students are excited about the chance to move to the next stage of their training. So if you see Mrs. Koester and the students at the nursing home, ask them how it is going and what they have experienced so far.
